If you’re in the right grade level and area, you will KNOW.
The challenges will seem manageable because the age, district, SES, is right for you. It will be enjoyable.
Every grade comes with its own challenges, but those challenges are MUCH more tolerable when you go into school and truly enjoy seeing your kiddos.
If your unsure, sub! It’s a great way to test the waters of each grade and see what ages and demographics you enjoy.
Some people are more fit to different SES statuses. I have only ever taught in Title 1, it’s what I enjoy. I know anything else wouldn’t be a good fit for me.
I also know teachers who enjoy higher SES districts. They are better fit for those districts and understand the needs better than I ever could due to my own experiences and what I’ve taught. I wouldn’t understand those needs because I’ve never had those experiences.
It all comes down to what age you enjoy, what district you enjoy, the SES you teach best in, and what challenges you are willing to face.
I never got my 4-5 endorsement and I’m glad I didn’t. I know it’s not for me. Not bad, just not where I can best serve.
Everyone has different skill sets and that’s what makes good teachers. The teachers who serve where they can teach best.
