Hi. I apologize that I do not have any good advice from a legal perspective. Thus, I suppose it would be right to even question why I'd comment anything.

Also, please let me state for the record two more things: 1) regardless of any other circumstance, I firmly believe in your right to the best of legal representation. and 2) I absolutely understand that what I am about to say may not apply to you. You may be 1) innocent or 2) have made a "one off" kind of mistake.

That said, I think it's true that a great number of people who find themselves in your situation have another issue: a drinking problem.

I know I did.

One day, I stumbled onto /r/stopdrinking. And after a bunch of soul searching, and with the support of a bunch of non-judgmental folks at that subreddit, I had the courage to stop. This was over a year ago.

If this in any way applies to you, I hope you might take the time to consider it. The sub has some who are AA proponents, some who are very anti, some who are questioning, some who are looking for advice for family members/friends, etc. But it's truly a welcoming, helpful place.
