Dude, you’re right. You can find racism anywhere. And it sucks. And it helps to point it out.

I don’t really care about the intentions of the guy in the photo. I care more about what the photo says about what assumptions and stereotypes we still continue to carry, and through photos like this, reinforce.

I get it, no one got hurt or offended in the creation of this photo. And the guy probably didn’t intend offense and he was probably really nice and maybe everyone laughed about it.

Or he made it for his racist mom as a joke. Great, I get it. I can laugh at it (and I probably would) while still acknowledging the racism in the photo.

It’s not inappropriate, or being oversensitive, or being a “keyboard warrior,” to point out the underlying racist stereotypes reinforced by photos like this.

If it makes you defensive when this sort of stuff is pointed out, maybe examine why you’re comfortable promoting racist stereotypes, even when meant as a joke.
