Suppose I'll tell you, and not to be rude but no one gives a shit about clans here. It's not really a thing anyone except maybe the rich folk who own crofts in the highlands care about. At this point it's just a touristy thing for highlands. For reference on how common the name MacLean is here; at my job we have files on all of our patients and we have a separate box for every name beginning with Mc or Mac because there are so many (Yes this includes MacLean).

If you're interested in the history of Scotland that's great! Absolutely look into that, there's loads of interesting stuff and we really do have a rich history which is well worth exploring but do it because you like the content and whatnot and not because you're "a MacLean".

At the end of the day though if the clan stuff is what interests you most of all then there are plenty of resources online which you can lookup which will tell you plenty of things about them.
