You can get a prepaid cell phone for as little as $20 at Dollar general or family Dollar. Prepaid means you don't have a contract and can pay as you go. If you need internet/smart phone that will cost more like $40-50. Monthly costs will vary...if you can set up auto pay usually you save a few bucks.

Do you have a bank account in just your name? If you cut contact with your father will he cut off your access to money? Get that straight before you cut ties. Make sure you have copies of your papers...birth certificate, social security card, any insurance policies etc.

Do you have other family members or friends who are car people? Someone who can help you with a purchase by checking things out? Facebook has lots of buy, sell, trade groups and there are lots of vehicles for sale there. Some colleges offer a deal on public transportation (even free) as part of student benefits, check on that as an option.

Check out student services anyways. It sounds like you'll need help with financial aid and they also offer stuff like counseling/therapy for free.
