Need help with agent stuff... when to call back/when to give up? Do I ever give up?

Let me say first that a) I have no idea what I’m talking about and b) I watch way too much television, but my first thought while reading this was to wonder if this is payback for you not following up with him years ago. Then I thought, “No...certainly no one would be that petty, would they?” Then I remembered the world we live in.

Having said that, if it were me, I would send a handwritten note saying “Thank you for taking the time to read my script. I would love to discuss it further with you over lunch or coffee.” I would include my card (even if he already has it). You could even send some small gift along with it, if appropriate. (If the vibe is more “job interview,” stick to the thank you note only.)

He might be overwhelmed right now, and even if he’s not, he’s likely getting a ton of emails every day. Sending an actual paper note is a way to a) stand out, b) be gracious and show good manners, and c) give him a nudge to remind him you want a response, whether positive or negative.
