Do I need to love my job? Or is money enough?

How confident are you that you would like the new job more? Have you talked to people that have this kind of role (outside of the interview process) about their day-to-day?

My gut reaction is that, if you don’t hate your current job, and you don’t have a really good reason to believe this other role would be better, I’d stay where you are. If you’re confident the other role would be better, that’s a totally different story. Run the numbers and see if you can make the salary work. What can you cut from your current budget? Careers are long and, if a few years with a pay cut will get you into a role that you will actively enjoy for the next 20 years then that seems worth it to me.
