We need more “puppy daycares” for those solo pet parents.

I’ve seen pups come into daycare completely scared of us humans and of any other dog, I’ve seen this at multiple locations by the way. These dogs would very often gain so much confidence with both with the proper care.

I’m not saying doggy daycares are all good, rather it’s really really dumb to go ahead and generalize daycares the way you want to in a thread where OP really should just be utilizing a normal daycare.

Again, I worked at three different locations for a year nearly every day. All 3 locations had 30 dogs a day PER ROOM. I was sceptical myself if this was feasible and didn’t even bring my own (very dog anxious) pup myself for the first bit of time there. Injuries are RARE. I mean, super super rare. Out of basically 100 dogs a day each day for 6 days of the week, I would only hear of maybe 2-3 very minor issues per week. This is like a scratch here or there or a small mark that was noticed during routine body checkups. Something more serious? Genuinely maybe 5 times at the most while I was there, and each time I was personally impressed with the response and care given to the pup. We never really had many people on each shift, just enough to fill out all the roles. In situations like these, you would regularly see a manager from one of the three locations go out of their way to take the pup to a vet themselves for checkups. These are people off the job coming in and taking pups to the vet or relieving a staff member so they can do so to ensure the dogs parent isn’t worried about the pup.

There was also a policy of contacting a dogs parent RIGHT AWAY if there was any issue, even if it was something minor that hadn’t led to any injuries or issues. If your dog was for any reason in a time-out crate, you were contacted. By the way, my role was more talking to parents and scheduling, so I know for a fact that this policy was adhered to at all times because well, I was the one doing these calls. I’ve been given access to internal systems and conversations before and there is nothing sketchy. OP if you’re able to

My own dog couldn’t be around other dogs without getting super anxious and HOWLING. I brought him to work and again I wasn’t even in the rooms myself. Within a week he was comfortably walking around with the other TWENTY NINE dogs he was organized with without issue. Another month and he was actively trying to play with other dogs.

OP please don’t be afraid to take your pup to a daycare that does a high volume of dogs per room. Just do your research on the locations near you specifically and the people working there. My experience may be anecdotal sure, but i started at the place I worked as a dog owner who thought he could never take his pup to a place like that and turned into someone that now doesn’t even work there anymore and still takes his dog there whenever the need arises.
