Need some advice

The fire service is very competitive to get into. The first thing your going to need to get is your EMT. Your off to a good start by doing ride alongs because networking is a big deal, you never know if one of those guys are going to end up on your interview board. Most firefighters don't like when civilians ride along because there kind of in the way. When your at the station make sure your performing station duties like cleaning, helping with the cooking, doing the dishes, mopping the bay, cleaning the truck ect. Don't be sitting around watching the tv or mouthing off. Point is you should always be working on something not just sitting around. Join any cadet, connector or junior firefighter program because that will help a lot with networking. Make sure your in really good shape and have a good driving record. Don't post anything stupid on social media either. I think you should go back in with a better attitude and be ready to work. Use good mannerisms (yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am). Don't give up and just be professional. If you show your really serious about being a firefighter then their going to take you more seriously.
