The OP is most likely NOT in/from the US and probably in a European country with good social security and healthcare coverage. Without meaning any offense, you could tell that English isn’t his first/native language + he doesn’t know what COBRA is (I don’t, too, because I’m not from/in the US).

You quoting amounts like $8K-$35K and hypothetical emergencies/pre-existing conditions will NOT register with him. Luckily for them, you don’t go bankrupt in European countries with good healthcare unlike the US.

TLDR: Not everyone on Reddit is in/from the US, so try to take that into consideration before quoting US laws to someone it very well may not be applicable to. Also, he (OP) seems set in his ways, so I’ll just save my breath if I were you!
