My best friend was in hospice for 5 weeks before she passed away a few years ago. I bought her a beautiful leather bound book. She loved it and wrote in it everyday while she could in there. Recently on her bday I went to visit her mom. She handed me that book. It was surreal to read her writing and notes to different people. She has written about her memories and what she loved about people. I read stories she had written about our times as well and she had written me a letter for when “he breaks my heart”. She didn’t approve of my ex SO as she was sure he was going to hurt me…. Long story .. he did this year and her words I will treasure always. She said “I hope I’m wrong though i think you will need to read this one day, and I won’t be here to pick up the pieces like last time and you will act like you’re made of stone” …. and just like that I wasn’t a rock anymore. Even through death she was there. Love doesn’t die when people do. I hope you both find your peace…
