Need to vent about rescue application process...

We had the same problem. We went to a rescue my husband had used in the past, they gave us an application, we started filling them out and gave details about our dog friendly apartment with a fenced in dog park, the walking route we had planned, the 3 dog friendly parks near us (we picked this place BECAUSE we wanted a dog), our past dog ownerships, references for us including my husbands aunt who is a vet tech, and the phone number of the vet we were going to use just in case they wanted to ever call them up (the owner of this place IMO is up tight and pokes into owners privacy but my husband and his aunt liked this place)

She got as far as “live in apartment” and threw out our applications in front of us! She told us she refuses to adopt dogs to anyone living in apartments... so basically a vast majority of our city cuz housing is expensive! I was so livid. We ended up going with a licensed breeder cuz no other shelters within our city limits had puppies or dogs younger than 5 years. I know “adopt don’t shop” and these places want their dogs to go to good homes, but these kind of rules keep dogs in shelters and out of loving homes.
