[NeedAdvice] I'm wasting my time and it's horrible

Unfortunately, nobody can give you a purpose in life other than yourself. If you want a somber reality check, just remember that you, me, all of us and everyone around you, are here for just a short time on Earth and we have no say otherwise. So it's up to you to decide how you want to spend that time. It sounds like what you're doing right now isn't making you happy. With our limited time on Earth, why repeat unhappy days when we have the option to switch it up?

Most of the time we fail because we try to tackle too much at once. Pick something you want to do that you don't do now (read, play an instrument, write, knit, some other hobby) and do it for 5 minutes a day. Yes, just 5 minutes. Then once you're done with that you're free to indulge in video games for the rest of your day with no guilt because you've done your 5 minutes.

That 5 minutes will soon feel pitifully small, so go for 10. And then later on, 15. Eventually you'll be doing 30 minutes of whatever hobby you've chosen every single day, and then you're free to do what you want after. Maybe it's video games, maybe it's something else, doesn't matter. The point is, you're carving out self-improvement time, going through that time with enthusiasm, then enjoying the rest of your day without guilt because you've done what you've set out to do.

That's the trap people often fall in when it comes to procrastination. You have an assignment due tomorrow that you could do in the morning or wait until the last minute. The procrastinator will avoid it all day until frantically finishing it - but all during the day they've been fussing at themselves. "I need to get this done" "I really should be working" "I need to stop putting this off"...it's a day of guilt. If they just did the assignment ahead of time, they could do those same activities but without guilt.
