Needing help explaining why the concept of white pride is not a thing we talk about to my (38M) daughter(8F). Or: Help me tell my 8 year old she can't wear a shirt that says "White Girl Magic"

Simple, there's no such thing as "white pride" because "white" is not a culture. The only kind of "white pride" that exists, is pushed by racists and gullible people and it doesn't mean anything good. You can have Polish pride, or Irish pride. English pride, Italian pride, Norwegian pride, etc, but not white.

The reason why black people can have "black pride" is because they don't know where they're from. Their ancestors were taken from their homes, given new names, and got punished if they practiced any of their culture. Things like food, dress, religion, etc, were taken from them until the only thing their descendants knew about themselves was their skin color. So they unite around that and their shared experiences with that and created a culture that should be celebrated.

This is why history is important. It's our job to listen and learn.

That's what I told my kids. Hope it helps.
