i recently went to a new stylist for the first time after moving, and not only did i pay twice what i paid at my old [awesome] stylist, i left with hot roots. :/
i've never left the salon with my roots this obviously warm. im a little warm at my ends as well, but the rest of my hair is very neutral/cool and my roots and temples just look silly. the second i looked in the mirror after she rinsed my hair, my wet hair was orange and i was shocked. she said it would probably look better dry. i straight up told her after it was dry it was too warm and she was like yeah next time we'll add purple to the color, but offered to do nothing to fix it and basically talked me out of having an opinion.
i tried washing with purple shampoo twice now and no change, other than it making my middle hair more cool and the roots more obvious...
i called the salon yesterday and left a very polite complaint. i got a voicemail last night from the owner of the salon saying she was sorry i "feel like it's too warm" but i can wait a few weeks and come back to get it done again for 50% off and they'll try to "make it lighter" because it'll cause too much damage to fix it right now before it grows out more?? she says it's because my roots were so grown out to start with but like.. i always go in with my roots grown out and they are NEVER yellow/orange after. :/
i went to sally's last night to look at maybe getting another purple shampoo and a girl there was a hairstylist and i asked her for advice and she said my hair looks awful and couldn't believe the stylist let me leave like that and to ask for my money back. she was like, “i can straight up see where your roots were, and that’s just bad.” i also mentioned that the stylist did color and then highlights, and she was literally shocked and just kept saying she felt bad i got so ripped off. :(
im just so embarrassed and upset about this. i’ve been getting highlights for 8+ years and my hair has never looked like this. i know its not the worst it could be, but as someone who’s never had this much brass, i just feel stupid.
