People that are more immersed in media and pop culture than others have a tendency to approve of these misandrist depictions and essentially propaganda more strongly.

But make no mistake, the demand for it is definitely already there and not created out of a vacuum. Advertisers often run man bashing ads because by their own admission, it's something that appeals to women they are marketing to.

As for the increased negative depiction of men in media: arguably it's always been like that in some form. The average man that amounts to nothing or that is not exceptional is frowned upon as suspicious, unsophisticated and laughable seemingly all at once in most entertainment media unless he is a father or in some care taking role.
