neighbor has demanded i pay for regular professional cleaning of his car due to bees pooing on it

Tell him you can get more honey with bees than you can any other way.

Offer him some honey. Have them over for dinner, or a honey glazed themed BBQ. And “bee” a good host.

You might also want to remind him that he’s the new guy in the area. It would be nuts for someone to move next to a dairy farm and be incensed by the cow smell and noises.

That’s the good neighbor policy. The easiest way is always to have a friend rather than an enemy.

But some people are really just jerks.

Write down what’s transpired and send it to an attorney. This way it is both on record with your attorney, and you’ve consulted an attorney.

If the BBQ doesn’t have a good reception, you might want to also fire a warning shot across the bow. Ask your new attorney what would be a good preemptive reply cautioning them against poor future behavior.

I’m thinking along the lines of having your soil, bees, trees etc. tested for pesticides now as a baseline to measure for the future. If there is a sudden loss of bees, get them tested again.

I don’t think you have much recourse against him spraying his own yard but if you find it in yours you do.

The attorney might also have some legal precedents to use. I believe the law with things like bees is more like how they’d view a cat roaming a neighborhood rather than a dog. You just sorta expect a cat to do it and a dog can’t.

That’s my two cents.
