Netflix has secured rights to be the exclusive home of new episodes of the Pokémon animated franchise in the United States, starting with Pokémon Journey in July 12th.

While I would also prefer a weekly release, there is indeed a reason for the wait. You have to keep in mind that Netflix doesn't simply offer subtitles to multiple languages, like crunchyroll does ,they instead dub their products to a lot of different lenguages, much more than you can even access, and they release it worldwide all at the same time. We don't have the number of views, but I do know a lot of people, who do not usually watch anime, that decided to give it a chance through Netflix with a dub. And, unlike TV shows like "Better call Saul", anime usually finish production halfway through it airing, so they have to wait for it to finish before starting to dub. While this particular strategy does not appeal to me, or the rest of this subreddit, we have to accept that we are in the minority, as it works with the majority of the casual viewers, who just watch the show and do not come to discuss it on the internet. Basically they appeal to a different demographic and we don't have real empirical evidence that proves that it doesn't really work outside of anime discussions.
