"Hastings' total compensation package for 2021 was worth $40.8 million". That's at least 39 jobs they could have saved right there. /s They could pay the CEO $1 million and 39 other people $1 million.
I'm being sarcastic. The problem we have in this nation and globally as well is that some people believe they need to "earn" hundreds to THOUSANDS of times as much as the workers who build, innovate, create, and serve. I think it's finally coming to a head. We just can't help create nor carry so few to such grand heights at the expense of so many anymore. There are consequences. It leaves much less to go around, but it absolutely decimates opportunity and hope. The working class has ever looming problem with stagnated wages, and inevitably not even being able to save for the years when they are no longer attractive hires by corporations, but long, long, long before the government deems they can retire and access their own social security savings or 401Ks. This gap is HUGE. Most working class don't have enough even to retire by 72, but let's be real, so much wealth has been sucked to the top that they/we will never have enough on any timeline. Something desperately needs to change. The world doesn't need more billionaires, and eventually their trillionaire heirs.
