Network Infrastructure Help

I hope you don't cry too much in your corner.

You see, here's the thing. My first response to you was basically saying "Hey, this guy is right. Return it and get a cheaper switch". Then guess what, !!YOU!! asked me to explain myself and I wasted my time coming up with a thought-out and reasonable response that educated you on the difference between what is traditionally known as a "dumb" switch and the thing you bought.

If returning it isn't an option, do you know what I would have said next? Log into your router and check the DHCP leases to find out what IP it's living on. Or, you know, you could read the instructions for the damned thing because I'm guessing it has a discovery app like all the other Netgear devices.

At this point you feel like it's necessary to tell people who are obviously FAR more educated than you in the nuances of networking that we don't understand your network or requirements, when you HAVE ZERO REQUIREMENTS. You need a bloody dumb switch that you can plug a few devices into.

So yes, I'm going to resort to name-calling now.
