Never go hungry again!

I learned this during my “Boar-pocalypse” - long story short, I was breeding a Boar army for attacking raiders (turns out, turrets and kill boxes are way better) when a cold snap decimated my hay. That would have been survivable, but a Malaria outbreak incapacitated five of my Pawns and killed my primary grower (the two temperamental Pyromaniacs, of course, survived just fucking fine). Her only useful stat was being a two-fire Grower, so I set her priorities and forgot about her completely. Turns out, she was carrying my colony with 18 in growing in exchange for a beer a day… So, no hay, kibble devoured faster than I could make it, and 40 Muffalo (I wasn’t paying attention to their breeding...) with a great many more wild boar… and my rice, potatoes, and strawberries slowly rotting and running out. You might have noticed, Pawns and Haulers opening and closing the fridge raises the temperature. You can mitigate this with an airlock (the two parallel doors going in and out), but unless you forbid the door, it’s inevitable that everything slowly rots. Even the Auto Doors don’t help all that much (auto-door on the inside and regular door on the outside is better, but I don’t think it’s worth it since they end up exploding). The idea is to stagger fridges with priorities set on the stockpiles. The outer-most pile is set to Low, then Normal, Preferred, Important, then Critical for the last room(s). Just copy the settings from one to the other (vegetation, milk, animal corpses, and meat except Human unless you’re into that sort of thing) then up the priority each time. Then, of all weird things, your Haulers (the remnants of my Boar army, in my case, so it was weird to watch them move their dead relatives) will literally organize your fridge for you. You definitely want the two coolers cause they do break (I’m in IT, so two is one and one is none), and they don’t take that much juice when stable. Then the only door into the next most fridge is the fridge before it, until the exit at the Low Priority fridge, which will only be full when you have abundance. Screenshot attached. This was three seasons ago, but the Muffalo and Boar are still frozen. I added a second Critical frozen locker, hence the door on the far right; if you have just the five, then don’t install a door there. I expect word would work just fine, I just used Shale because I was carving out the mountain (then marble when I ran out). I’ll have meat for ages, short of a particularly abusive series of solar flares, eclipses, and short circuits (stagger sets of battery backups with switches and Fire Foam poppers).
