New all-female W Series to launch in 2019

I'm not really sure about this new series.

Yes, more female drivers at higher tiers of motorsport is always a good thing but I think it's going through a completely bad path to actually encourage this.

You'd want to encourage it at the karting level I think. Yes this female only series probably will inspire someone to go for it and that's always a good thing but how does it act as an alternative feeder series?

Assuming it replaces F3, what do they still do GP2 normally - would that eventually end up being segregated too? Is the path essentially going to be unsegregated F4 --> segregated F3 --> unsegregated F2/GP2 (whatever it's called) --> unsegregated F1?

In the end of the day, F1 is meant to be made up of 20 or so of the best open wheel drivers in the world (more or less, let's ignore pay drivers in this argument). I just feel a lot of teams won't take the risk at F2 to pick someone from this segregated league. Though I'm more inclined to believe Coulthard in that it's more a lack of sponsorship than a lack of talent and happy to be proven wrong, I just can't see many of them progressing to GP2 unless they really do shine.
