New Article Discussing Possible Motive of Las Vegas Shooter

Interesting; thank you.

Do you happen to know what types of info the federal database contains pertaining to these background checks?

He was active duty military at the time. Although the restraining order was done through the civilian court system, his command knew about it and actually escorted him to court on the day the judge declared it permanent.

He was later kicked out of the military and given a 'general - other than honorable' discharge. I learned he'd assaulted one of his shipmates at some point previously and while still active duty he was working a part time civilian job on base and had stolen money and threatened to harm his manager. To my knowledge, this manager is the one that notified his command. Since he had a pattern of misconduct in the military and in the civilian world they basically cut their losses and got rid of him.

Anyway, it's just shocking to me that someone can still legally buy a gun after all of that and that a federal background check somehow didn't catch those things.
