Anybody know much about scooters? I have experience with all kinds of bikes but I got out of the street bike game because I found dirt riding much more fun. Now I’m kinda wanting something practical for around town, and I’m wondering about getting a scooter vs like a cheap old Ninja 250.

Given that I’m a good rider, and I wore the same gear on both (although like 0% of scooter riders seem to wear anything but a helmet), and I ride the same routes and speed etc on both -which one would you say is safer?

Background: I don’t drive much because I work remote, so I have a truck that I love. But I’m gonna starting to go to an MMA gym like 4x a week. 8 mile commute each way, not on the interstate.

For just that one purpose alone a Ninja would be fine and more fun. But then I think about that sweet storage space in a scooter, I could use it for a lot more around-town type trips (which is like 90% of my driving anyway) like groceries and save on gas. Ninjas are obv great on gas too though. And more versatile because they can go on the interstate. So I’m really on the fence, looking for any advice from bike & scooter owners, or any insight on which would be safer.
