New employer failed to disclose hours prior to hiring. Expected to work overtime, on call, and weekends without additional pay

I'm not sure either.

DOL letter ruling of December 4, 1998 (BNA, WHM 99:8201) states that this exemption does not include employees who "provide technical support for business users by loading and implementing programs to businesses' computer networks, educating employees on how to use the programs, and by aiding them in troubleshooting." In other words, "help desk" employees do not fit this exemption. See also DOL opinion letter FLSA2006-42 in this regard.

Here it pretty clearly states that help desk employees do not fit this exemption. What does that mean for me?

Properly speaking, the exemption applies only to the very top experts in computer software, i.e., the ones who actually write the software programs, or who design, implement, and maintain a company's network software, intranet, or Internet presence.

Other members in my department with my same job title might maintain the company's network software, but I don't have the experience or training to do so. Nor am I expected to at this time. All I do is handle printer, access, password tickets right now.

I've been here for about 2 months, but I'm wondering whether I should talk to my co-workers about our classification too.
