I’m not an addictive person except overeating sometimes, but the glucometer usually takes care of that for me real quick. My FB feed and my mother are always talking about deserts they are or made — it is an obsession I don’t need to hear about. But that’s how people socialize: “I had a yummy treat. Don’t you want to celebrate it with me?” No, not really.

My in laws have a T1D and they are very addictive, to all kinds of things. And yes they push food types on me that I don’t want. It’s obnoxious — and sad because the T1D is not doing too well there and would be better off with a CGM and some more self control of her foods, IMO.

People here absolutely disagree about whether T1D ought to restrict foods, and the reasons to do so. And I’ll leave it at that. It affects my social life, yes. And I’m not so ready to go do activities outside of a controlled environment anymore. Do what you have to, I guess.
