New Graduate Nurse (BSN) salary?

Okay, #1) which island? 37 on Oahu is prolly gunna be different than 37 on BI.

Second; Hmm... not sure about starting for clinics. Hopefully someone else knows more about that. I work at a state hospital and I’m with the nursing union - so pay is standardize across the board and available online for anyone to see. BU 09, SR 20, step B or C for starting out. So, Kona Community, Ka’u, Kohala, and Hilo pay 46.51 for B and 48.38 for C. Link

Third) Output areas such as clinics and centers will pay less than hospitals. Something to do with putting money into insurance and benefits; and as a result, they don’t have as much to put in your pocket. They just don’t pay as much as inpatient. But, yes, it’s day shift and 9-5 which is nice.

I’m not sure what Queens pays; they used to post their pay on the website years ago but I haven’t been able to find it recently. Four years ago it was around $48 or $50, if I remember correctly. When I interviewed at North Hawaii 4 years ago, they were offering $34... which, even 4 years ago, was less than state hospital pay ($42).

The hardest, hardest step is getting your foot in the door. (Took me about 3 months of daily applying to get my first nursing job during a “nursing shortage” back on the mainland.) Once you get in; standard is 6 months before moving on to something else. It’s always golden to have at least 6 months in your resume as you might have seen. (Apply here! Must have 6 mo experience!).

Hope that helps.
