New housing estate.

I'd say 50% of Sydney is comprised of slums of inhabitable fibro houses with ugly urban landscapes with not much walkability to nearby amenities and infrastructure like public transport. Melbourne, about 20%.

What is considered "nice" in Sydney is slightly above average in Melbourne for the points considered above (ignoring the harbour/beaches). The median Melbourne suburb is significantly nicer. Sure, you have Point Piper and Mosman, but Melbourne is just leafier and more accessible. I drove through the Dover Heights/Vaucluse area to visit a friend, but you wouldn't know it was one of the wealthiest areas in the world.

Houses like these remind me of council estates in the UK. Yes there's a few mansions, but aside from the nature, Sydney is pretty ugly.
