New HSV(2?) diagnosis

What? No one is going to reassure this guy.

First of all it is not healthy to spend too much time on forums like this as they have a dominate culture that will make things worse, also it can make the condition define you. Been there and done that.

The first thing you need to do is go into a shopping centre, nightclub or anywhere with a large group of people and realise that 1 in every 4 people have genital herpes, mostly type 2 as 1 doesn’t really like it so much down there. Count them, 1 - 2 - 3 - herpes. But only 1 in 10 have symptoms or know about it. My stat was wrong in another post, so about 1 in 40 of those people around you have had a symptom, but not all have ongoing symptoms. So it goes down to around 1 in 80 that are walking around either not caring or feeling like some cursed infectious demon like you.

The person who gave me GHSV2 didn’t get symptoms until 6 months after sex with 2 partners in quick succession; she had no idea when she gave to me. Who knows who had what and knew about it.

People need to think in black and white, and simplistically, as it is easier for them. So there is a simplistic view that those who know they have herpes pass it on by not disclosing. The real picture is more complex when you realise there is 1 in 4, or more in certain groups, who are part of the being infected and passing it on.

Some people understand if you discuss it with them, some don’t, but don’t beat yourself up as you have no bad intent and aren’t necessarily going to infect everyone, nor are they going to have it as bad as you if you do.

My favourite moment was an American girl that said GHSV would kill any babies she had if she caught it from me. Ahh… the good old days of being single and in the game.
