The New Internalized Homophobia; or, Revenge of the Gay Incels

Yeah, it's wild to me when people talk about being worthless if you don't have a 6-pack or over 15% body fat or whatever. Like 95% of gay guys are not anything approaching that kind of shape. Do these people think we're all sad and alone at home? They're so focused on the pornstar lookalikes that they aren't able to pick their heads up and look around at the people just like themselves.

The gay scene isn't instagays and WeHo like they seem to think it is. The gay scene is whatever most gay guys are doing, and the vast majority of us are fairly average dudes. The gay scene as I've experienced it is boardgame nights, bar trivia, rooftop BBQs, watching football, playing softball, playing videogames, getting a beer at a happy hour, etc. Everybody is friendly with eachother.

I've always carried a bit of extra weight, and through sports I've become very good friends with (among a huge variety of guys) gymrats, college athletes, slightly prominent instagays with abs and huge pecs and arms and 28" waists and not a single one has ever given a single shit about my body. I've been the palest guy at the pool party or the heaviest guy on the boat, and everybody is just hanging out like the friends that we are.

I can't claim that every city and social circle is just like mine, and I'm 100% sure many people have had objectively negative experiences along these lines. I just think it's crazy how people are so adamant that that's all there is to the gay community.
