That's actually really impressive! I should preface that where I grew up was definitely the exception for the time (like 2012 or so), but it's rural Appalachia so I'm sure you can imagine how some of the districts there are. We were taught evolution, but my science teachers would always emphasize that was a matter of opinion and that he wasn't there to "force" the view that it was factual on the students. Climate change wasn't really required to be covered at all, but there were a few instances that I can remember the teacher would tangentially talk about it as it was related to something else we were learning, but it was never apart of our assignments. Evidently there were places that were worse off than that.

I don't think it was the norm though
