New to Kentucky.... more Thunder Over Louisville questions. Sorry!

Bad advice for a parent. For starters that parking lot will be full by 1 pm I bet. If not sooner. You also are taking about a 50/50 chance of running over nails or broken glass from the little shits who break bottles for enjoyment down there in that parking lot.

Secondly, police might be cracking down, but still the skatepark is just a haven for riff raft. It will be nothing but a bunch of kids ranging from 12-18. All of which are itching to fight over the girl they like or to impress the girls they think are hott. Thunder is a mix of the whole city. Meaning you will get the kids who are raised to never be tested. The kids who you can bump shoulders with then before you know it he's talking about calling his cousin. These kids see the skatepark as the place to go because with mass cover of teens you can light up your drugs or drink underage and see cops approaching from a far and ditch it. This also attributes to the fights that happen every where at the skatepark. Also teens congregate together and that's fine. but you will notice this at the skatepark as the police will contain the teens there the best they can.

So for op unless he wants his 14 year old son to ditch him for that party at the skatepark I would avoid it. I have went to that park for thunder in the past. I know why kids love it there and that reason is no reason parents would want their kids there. Also op wishes to head home quickly after thunder. If you haven't been to the skatepark in the last year it is surrounded by roads that are shut down and mass construction is happening all around it. So it also is doubtful that getting to that parking lot will be easy yet alone leaving that area after the show being easy.

Also note this is not anything to do with skateboard kids and the lifestyle of skating. In all reality the riff raft that shows up during thunder aren't skaters. It's people who don't even skate or understand the sport. Hence why they come down and just fuck around and mess up the kids trying to skate. I don't recommend anyone go to the skatepark area unless you are 12-17 years old.
