New LGS Etiquette - Dealing with Slow Play

i'm writing this as one of the local slow players. a lot of the time when comboing there is a certain finesse that goes into it. This can come from ordering to proper mana management to being ready to respond to answers. Now i over process all of this. just the way it is in some regards.

i am a veteran of the lgs and play in multiple groups. I have my mind melting 5 piece combo lists were the order in which i search is everything (karador/boomweaver) and also my mindless face decks. I make a choice as to which to play during which playgroup i am in.

Now how to go about it. i normally just get a endless stream of shit talk since i'm know for it and yet at the same time if i am doing a well known combo many of the people at the table can see it and i just ask if anyone has answers. most of the players are modern players and thus are competent in regards to conceding to combo.

since you are new you need to tread carefully. I respect the time frame and have found myself being rather hypocritical of others for their slow play so i understand it. if he is just resolving some land search during his turn and it doesn't seem like there is anything else for him to do just ask '' you done with your turn''. if it's staring at his hand for a full minute then playing one thing and passing then he's most likely just over thinking things. then just ask is there anything that he wants to do. keep a nice voice and calm attitude and most players will move along.

also understand that you are in a 5 player magic game. if you normally play a 1v1 format you just went from the shallow end of the pool in terms of game length and high dived into the deep end. i like 3-4 person edh pods for this reason.

please elaborate more if you have any questions
