A new lost letter experiment suggests urbanites are not less prosocial or altruistic than their rural counterparts, which did not support the urban incivility phenomenon, the stereotype that residents in large cities are selfish, while those in small towns have a strong sense of community.

my aunt lives in a single family home in a city. for the longest time, there was hardly any foot traffic aside from people who lived on her block. then a big stadium was built that put her street between a mass transit stop and the stadium, so foot traffic increased drastically. thankfully, after a few years, the transit system expanded so that there was a stop right in front of the stadium, and foot traffic in front of her house dropped back to the previous level.

too much foot traffic in front of houses lowers property values, especially when that traffic includes drunk sports fans and concert goers singing and pissing in your yard, so urban planners generally avoid those situations.

i dont want to have a parallel conversation about you or me personally so im skipping your question at the end.
