The “new normal”

Damn... I was a custodian, well technically I still am but just wrote my resignation letter to give to my boss on Monday as I just accepted an offer for a MUCH better job in a completely different field (one that actually interests and will challenge me).

I feel like I am getting out "under the wire" or just in time. I think the school district is suppose to start classes an about 4 weeks. Got notice of "the plan" yesterday but nothing has actually / physically been done yet to facilitate any changes besides "planning".

We've nearly finished doing the normal summer duties and can probably wrap that up next week. I fear admin. has waited too long and may not be able to implement the changes they want to do. I know there is not enough indoor space to maintain recommended social distancing and the plan is to get tent like structures - I picture like rental "wedding / party tents", and wonder if they've considered that there may not be enough of these available due to abnormally high demand.

You may be thinking that these admins. are smart people and have considered this. I beg to differ. There is , and has been MASSIVE dysfunction coming out of central admin. office, in the nature of institutional politics like covering your ass in spite of or shielding your incompetence. It's been a mess for some time (several years) now and we've lost many good teachers and admins. directly because of this.

We have been woefully short of bus drivers for years now, good teachers and admin. leave to work at neighboring districts, an in-ordinary amount of job postings have gone up recently...

... ok I see this has turned in to a vent. Lol... Sorry.

Good luck to all school employees everywhere. I wish you the best!
