I, as a newly qualified Forensic Psychologist working for the MoJ have sat across all types of offenders, and I can tell you, it’s not a pretty sight. And most of all, I feel nothing for them. I have no pity, no empathy or sympathy for any of them. I check my emotions at the door. They get nothing from me, yet I can read offenders like a book. I’m not a young adult so I also bring an awful lot of life experience to my job. Supporting an offender, as some of you are doing, does not help them during their rehabilitation. Suffice to say that it may well hinder them depending on their personality disorder. Do as you wish, however don’t ever expect any respect from a rational human being.
