New player, few questions about where is a good guide and how the South Carolina fits in.

The primary difference is that in the SC you need to switch to armor penetration shells. And you have to be way more observant of the mini map. So for starters, in the next game you play press + on the num pad a few times to max out the map size.

BB game play requires that you have to plan your strategy out way ahead of time. The moment the game starts you need to decide where on the map you want to project your force. Then ask a cruiser and destroyer to go with you. Usually if you say Yo I'm going to C, lets rock them there enough will follow.

The other temptation is to only engage at max range. Don't. ~10km is easier to manage. Of course pepper them at max range if you have a chance though.

Target priority. Cruisers and other BBs first. Then DDs. You aren't likely to end up in range of a CV until later in a match. If you do, use HE shells to fire them up.

If you get caught having to engage a DD alone, fire a salvo at them and immediately swap to HE. When you see them turning side to side it's to launch torpedoes. So prepare your butts.

Eyes in the sky. Torpedoes are going to be the bane of you. Torpedo bombers specifically. When you see them you need to start planning evasive maneuvers when they are 10km out. You want to be able to sail between the torpedoes. Or angle into or away from them so fewer hit you.

People are saying skip past the SC ASAP. Don't. It's a bad ship but it gets better once you are used to playing a BB. Save your free XP. Use it to break into tier 5 or tier 6 with more upgrades. It's basically about ten games of teaching you to play a BB.

Also that Phoenix you are getting tonight, it's an even more significant game play change from the STL. You are going to find yourself feeling very fragile.
