New speedrun.com rules would ban super Mario brothers if it was released today. Also sets arbitrary limits based on popularity and puts scrutiny on... games released via steam...

People will speedrun anything they want to do, and everyone has individual opinions on what is fun and what isn't fun. Like I know a lot of people who prefer games where you go from trick to trick, while some like games that have heavy movement based on skill instead of just consistency at tricks.

And I know for a fact that it is DIFFICULT for a game to gain any traction/find the leaderboard/discover the community if it is just on Google Docs and the big guys are on speedrun.com.

Let them have their leaderboards dude, it doesn't hurt anyone and ESPECIALLY considering the huge amount of flash games and what not on the platform, why change the standard now? So much for having a central platform for speedrunning.

I'm angry about this because I've had one of my games rejected before and now they're imposing even more rules.
