I love Scotland and have much family there but when can we start talking about Scottish exceptionalism that assumes a newly independent Scotland would be desperately accepted into any new international organisation they wish purely off the basis of them being Scotland and not what the situation will look like post independence.

I try and imagine if they were independent and had left the EU and wanted to join the UK and what that would mean, what would that debate in rUK look like ? Particularly if we didn't have close ties as say the block they'd just left like we do now.

For the record I fully believe an independent Scotland would be viable, but believe those alive now would have to sacrifice their good years to pave the way for it
