New Yorkers hold vigil at Bowling Green for 'massacre' victims

Again. I wanna win for liberal causes. The shit blm activists pulled during the election not only didn't help their cause or the cause of any left wing group but actively hurt us. I had a local blm leader tell me in my area call me in the first week and said they wouldn't get involved at all in the election because "they just weren't feeling Hillary". They also went after, y'know, not any of the 16 openly anti blm Republican candidates as racists but bernie sanders, who literally marched with MLK.

Stop actively hurting your cause. I again marched with blm marches several times. I haven't been in a while because it wasn't accomplishment anything other than seeing its own support plummet because of exactly this shit.

If you wanted to make a change, we wouldn't be years into blm without a single set of coherent changes to be found at the national or even at many state levels and no plan on how to achieve those goals. Not to mention having a million local leaders with different agendas and no centralization whatsoever is literally what killed OWS's chance to make concrete policy changes.

There are plenty of easy and popular changes blm could demand from Democrats, and would have gotten had blm activists promised not to vote or work for Hillary and any other dem candidates and just come and helped with concrete action and steps.

For example, if blm had focused for a couple months on, in blue states, passing amendments and laws requiring the independent appointment or election of special prosecutors to prosecute police crimes, we'd have had the ability right now to make a serious and significant dent in police brutality in several states. If blm had endorsed bernie sanders, we might have had the most aggressive overhaul of the criminal justice system. Even if they'd helped to back Hillary we would have had criminal justice reform in the works right now.

Instead, we've lost everything and everything anyone on the left stands for. And after 10 years in progressive activism and professional political work, I'm so fucking done with our side intentionally setting themselves up to fail. It gets old. I fucking 100% agree with blm's entire overarching message and have acted in support of it. Yet after 10 years, I still get demonized for being a straight white cis dude that's just trying to do what's right.

If we can create a coherent, unified resistance and not constantly be completely inflexible we could easily fucking win back what we've lost because so many liberals in the Midwest and FL stayed home. I actually really want BLM to announce a March against racism because trust me, you'll see a million white liberals there too. Let's work together. Let's build massive resistance organizations, and let's put together a set of unified demands on racism and bigotry against PoC and we'll put together a strategy to win them.
