New Zealand to enter the war against ISIS

I don't know about you all but during the beginning of the War on Terror the neoconservatives in the United States began talking about fundamentalist wahhabi isalm as being islamo-fascist. Now most, especially on the global left, disagreed with that characterization. They thought that saying fascism was worthless because fascism is an ideology that comes out of Europe and these people didn't seem very concerned with an organic ethno-nationalist conception of the nation. I understood their hesitancy and agreed with them that it was nothing but a politically convenient slur.

Well, they were right. They have been right about more than they've been good at dealing with the truths. And it is beyond question that ISIS is a totalitarian state that exists to wage expansionist war and glorifies not merely martyrdom but death itself. An honest to god death cult in charge of large swaths of Mesopotamia.

So while we're all very, rightfully, skeptical about claims to be fighting evil and supporting democracy perhaps we shouldn't be so open minded as to let our brains roll out. There are democracies in the world and they are all against the policies and legitimacy of the Islamic State. Even though there are autocracies who are even more existentially involved in the fight it is clear to me that even if they were on the side of ISIS we would fight ISIS. That is our war against ISIS isn't about oil, or geopolitics, or any other convenient excuse. It really is about irreconcilable systems and on the one hand are.. god this pains me, Islamo-fascists and on the other side there are representative governments that allow for civil societies to form.

So what I'm asking you is what reasons does the parliament have for opposing it? Is it because they want to do what is popular, what will get them elected, what doesn't carry risk? Or are they actually driven by the principle that the campaign is itself harmful and unwarranted? Because if its the later I have more respect for your PM than the other 55%.
