I guess I just don't get this kind of conspiracy thinking. I live in New Zealand and the strategy here worked because we have a population of 5 million, 60% of which is spread out across both major islands and the government literally locked the border and went into lockdown as soon as they found community spread.

Our lockdown had the vast majority of the country literally sitting in their homes for close to 2 months while the government ramped up contact tracing and testing capabilities.

And those capabilities meant that when we did snuff out community transmission they were able to trace every single case until it was eradicated from the general population.

It's not a model you can apply everywhere but it DID work here.
