[NEWBIE] Shopping for 12 string Acoustic - Philly Region

I have owned five different 12 strings going back to 1978. I won't live without one. It doesn't get played as often as some of my other guitars but it is an absolute necessity for certain songs and nothing beats the chime of a 12 string and a mandolin played (recorded) together.
My second was a <$300 Fender and it was my least favorite of them all. It just wasn't comfortable. Keep that in mind in case choosing a less expensive one ends up turns you off.
Last time I was in the market I went to Elderly in Lansing thinking I had my heart set on a Guild. Played a couple Guilds, Taylors and was pretty surprised that the best sounding one was a Blue Ridge. Also less expensive then the others. The Taylor sounded thin. The Guild sounded dull. Blue Ridge was just right.

No regrets despite being somewhat of a name snob and "Blue Ridge" means nothing to me.
