Another factor I've seen while looking at this data myself is how the entrance of women into the workforce affected prices. With each family getting double the income, the economy slowly adjusted to its previous equivalent. If you compare prices of goods (homes, cars, etc) to their equivalent around 1965 which is where our wages are comparable to adjusted for inflation you see an almost perfect fit.

Obviously I'm not saying women working are bad but I feel like I need to put this disclaimer just so someone doesn't take it the wrong way. Its just a trend I noticed while studying the data myself. Feel free to look into it yourself and lmk what you think.
