There is a genuine morbid curiosity of the public to investigate a killer’s mindset is far more interesting than reading about a woman who worked as a vet or a guy who liked cars.
The blame isn’t entirely on “the media.” It’s basic human curiosity, and more people are drawn to see why a killer does what s/he does
I think if you try to boil it down to “the media just wants more ratings,” you’re being too narrow-minded
