More a Noble Household, Tribe, Clan, Ethnicity, Race by using Family as a starting point.

To my knowledge, Mafias work and exist within the Capitalist system and Paradigm. However if your family is large, owns land, produces its own food, clothing, tools, then it will exist outside Capitalism and would more just be a separate mini nation.

If all family members inbreed(half siblings with Half siblings, cousins with cousins) then eventually your genes and blood becomes so concentrated, mutations more prevalent that you diverge so far from the mainstream, baseline, mixed, mutt population, that you become your own Race and Genetic Line

You might be a Mafia during the Separation and Parasitism phase(send all descendants to work and learn in Mainstream Civilization then use the money they bring to set up a self sufficient family town so you eventually need no money) but that wouldn't be the goal.
