Nice to see Facebook allowing paid ads to scam account info from people. Wonder how many people actually fell for it.

Here's how I got scammed in my first month in osrs because i'm a dumb ass.

I came to osrs after several years of rs3. Say what you will about mtx, unpolled content, power creep, etc., the thing that made me stop rs3 was the community. Osrs can be toxic like any other game, but rs3 was really bad at the time.

Either way, I come to osrs. I make my first mill I shit you not training ranged in SoS and collecting wolf bones. Im spending a lot of time in the stronghold.

I see on Facebook a double xp weekend and it seems pretty natural to me that it's real. After all, rs3 had them. So that's understandable and excusable that I'd click it. It stops being understandable the further the scam goes. It asks me for my info to log into the forum. I think that's normal. What should have been a really big red flag was when it asked for my authenticator. Naturally I enter that.

Time passes, no xp. I log out for an hour and come back to an empty bank. Honestly at the end of the day this was my fault entirely, but these ads really do prey on people like me who made the switch late into osrs.

Tl;dr steve jobs once said common sense isn't common, and those are words I live by.
