I don't think this is true for a couple of reasons. First, it's only $20 million or so. Second, he could build it into sale price.

Unfortunately, Melnyk is staying because it's his identity.

We're already last in the NHL in attendance. That's Ottawa, the capital of Canada, by the way.

Melnyk has absolutely salted the earth here. Every serious fan I know is openly hostile toward the team. Corporate sponsors are gone. The arena deal is dead as long as EM is here, because nobody in city government will have anything to do with the owner ever again.

It's finished - done. We are stagnant until he goes. And if he doesn't, I think we'll see a relocation within the decade.

At this point, I suspect this is his long-term goal, because he'll make a lot more on a sale if the Senators are allowed to move.
