Why is Nickelback hated so much?

I've never seen the skit, and I still hate them. I've hated them since I first heard Leader of Men on the radio in 2000. I knew right then they were going to be the next Creed - another generic, cookie-cutter, overproduced post-grunge band - even while Creed was still riding the crest of their fame.

But I'll tell you why I hate them. It's actually not even that I hate them, because there's a chance I would do the same thing in their shoes. They've found a formula that works. They stick to it, and make lots of money. Even though that goes against what I think music should be, I can't blame them for doing what works. If their goal is to make money, rather than to make great original music, then they're doing great.

So I don't necessarily hate them, I hate their fans. I hate the people that buy their albums and songs. I hate the people who mindlessly feed this soulless corporate machine. The music is shit. Lyrics just vague enough that most people can relate to it, but not deep enough that it's too emotional. Medolies that are the same album after album. No innovation. No talent. No attempt at anything meaningful. It's so empty. Yet people just fucking eat it up. It's like this testament to how boring and like-minded people can be. It's like the McDonald's of music. Here's this boring, generic, utter shit. Now your gonna take it and fucking love it, you stupid fucking cattle.

It's not Nickelback that I hate. If it weren't them, it would be someone else. Plus, there are plenty of other bands/brands that are different versions of the same thing. What I hate is the part of our culture that they represent. Consumerism of disposable shit.
