NICTO Act Signed by President Thomas

Alright, it's pretty sloppy as I haven't considered a lot of the details yet, but here's a brief, blunderbuss attempt at explaining it:

  • In the US, Alf Landon is elected President and starts enacting his 'New Deal' and tries to calm tensions across the country by opening talks with the SPA & AFP. These talks fall apart after a labor dispute with General Motors makes it to Landon's desk and he tries to negotiate the strike. The Second US Civil War breaks out shortly after, and while the CSA & AUS start off weaker than the Feds, the CSA ultimately wins the Civil War. During the Second Constitutional Convention, the Totalist and Vanguardist wings of the Socialist Party win out and William Z. Foster, leader of the American charter totalists, is elected Interim President. As President, Foster enacts a series of reforms such as: the establishment of a Presidential uniform (based on old revolutionary army uniforms), the establishment of a Black Belt Autonomy (which was/is criticized for skirting around racial equality/pushing the problem somewhere else), the introduction of Foster Homes (where children are taken away from potentially reactionary and treasonous families and given good, patriotic, socialist education and are even allowed to help contribute the Permanent American Revolution! After all, they're going to continue working when they're adults right? [read: Foster steals children and reintroduces child labor]), the legalization of "suicide" (I assure you, that man killed himself by shooting himself 7 times in the back of the head), and the abolition of democracy (4 of 5 of those 'reforms' are real and exist in-game. The one I made up was the Presidential uniform, but Foster is crazy enough to actually try something like that, I think). The old USA is no more and has been reborn into the Continental Socialist Republic of America (still working on that name).
  • After the assassination of Kerensky (Yeah, I know. But I can't account for the Russian rework until it comes out), it seemed like Russian democracy would die, but the Socialist Revolutionaries formed a national coalition government comprising the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (the Mensheviks), the Socialist Revolutionaries (the SRs), a majority of the Constitutional Democrats (the Kadets), and some of the democratic Eurasianists (the... Eurasianists?). Afterwards, Irakli Tseretli, leader of the Mensheviks, was elected Prime Minister of Russia and began shifting Russia into a democratic socialist state while also preparing Russia for war & avenging the Treaty of Brest-Livosk.
  • In the Union of Britain, Oswald Mosley's National Revolutionary Party (I believe that's the new name for the British totalists?) wins the 1936 Elections and declared that we do, in fact, "live in a period." Also, something about invading Ireland and "lighting a flame that the ages shall not extinguish" and a totalitarian dictatorship.
  • In the Commune of France, syndicalist democracy was killed in early 1936 when Georges Valois (considering Valois IRL hated democracy, I think this is much more plausible than winning the elections), other members of the Cercle Proudhon (what I'm assuming is the formal name for the Sorelian faction in the 3I rework), and their paramilitary group the Legionnaires marched on Paris and just took the government. It was a dark day for France and marked the beginning of what is called the "Sorelian Terror" by anti-Sorelian groups and people. This terror is characterized by widespread Legionnaire violence, persecution of Jews and intellectuals (Valois was an anti-intellectual and anti-Semite), Valois's cult of personality & all-powerful rule as Le Guide (although it turns out 'Chef' is the actual French word for leader. Although it's probably for the best that the Devs chose 'Guide' because no one would take him seriously otherwise), and extreme French nationalism and revanchism.
  • In Italy, the Papal States reform into a constitutional monarchy under Pope Stephen X; the Republic of Italy, Kingdom of Two Sicilies, and Kingdom of Sardinia are places that exist (I haven't really come up anything for them yet); and Benito Mussolini is elected Chairman of the Socialist Republic of Italy. The eggman-who-looks-like-a-caricature-of-himself begins the Cultural Revolution and this leads to war in Italy. The Pope is kicked out of Italy, flees to Austria, and Benito Mussolini reigns supreme in Italy. That is, except for the buffer state of Venice between Italy and Austria, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.
  • Let's speedrun the Entente: In Canada, Edward XIII decides that democracy is cool and will punch the nearest NatPop/Totalist the next chance he gets. In NatFrance, Mordacq comes to power and promises that democracy will return to France. In South Africa, Jan Smuts is elected PM, goes full "WE WILL BURY YOU! HISTORY IS ON OUR SIDE!" to the Boers (this is a real thing in the mod), Apartheid never becomes a thing, and segregation is on its way out. The West Indies Federation exists and the Dominion of India is the Dominion of India.
  • With their success in the Weltkrieg, Germany has finally found its place in the sun. Unfortunately, Black Monday happens and the Empire seems to be falling apart, so Kaiser Wilhelm II decides to fulfill his Easter Promises and democracy is brought to Imperial Germany. In the May of 1937, the SPD is elected and numerous changes are brought to the Empire: women's suffrage, the FAUD is allowed to operate, the Reichsmark is adopted across the Reichspakt, and the foundations of a sort of "European Union" are set. As for the rest of the Reichspakt: the Reformgruppe take charge in Mittelafrika and Goering floats away like the angry blimp he is, Lithuania embraces Christian democracy, Belarus' populist democrats are still in charge before the Weltkrieg, the Baltic Duchy moves from a confusing collection of cantons to a modern constitutional monarchy, and I think that's it.
  • In Austria, Kaiser Karl I successfully federalizes and democratizes the empire into the Danubian Federation.
  • The Ottoman Empire also successfully federalizes & democratizes into the Sublime Ottoman Federation.
  • Chen Jiongming unites China and forms the United Provinces of China. Afterwards, he steps down and let's the people choose their leader.
  • Taisho democracy dies in Japan after the National Populists or the Paternal Autocrats (whichever one is closest to OTL Japan) coup the government, and shall now be known as Imperial Japan (because I don't want to lump in democratic Japan with authoritarian Japan). Then, Imperial Japan does what Imperial Japan does best and that's crimes against humanity and militarist expansionism in the name of "anti-imperialism".
  • Norway decides to become totalist for some reason.
